Eating Habits, My Helper and My Cleaning Un-Schedule

Daily Life of a Homemaker

At the end of last year my husband and I had a discussion and decided that we needed to start eating better. We have been huge soda drinkers and even though I don't want to admit it... snack addicts. We usually purchase our groceries based on what's on sale, but we have realized that we can no longer do that because it's causing us to eat horribly.

The past week or so I have been making all of us fruit smoothies in the morning (plus eggs and toast for the kiddos), making my husbands lunch and making healthier dinners.

My husband has gone from eating nothing for breakfast to at least having fruit (we are working on fiber to add). He has also gone from grabbing something to eat at a gas station (he's a truck driver) to having celery, carrots, a piece of fruit and a sandwich for lunch. I have been making a lot of chicken for dinner.

I prepped all the celery and carrots so they were ready to go...

Yummy! Celery and Carrots!

I'm still working on menu ideas, but I have the smoothies down now. When I first made them, they had a watered down taste and I didn't want to add yogurt so I had to figure out how to add more flavor. Now I add 2 cups of frozen fruit to the blender with water (almost covering the fruit) and half a frozen banana with a tiny bit of coconut extract and it turns out perfect.

Morris has helped me this week by destroying a roll of toilet paper and an almost empty roll of paper towels. Plus, he lays on my laptop from time to time to help me out. Of course, I didn't think to snap a picture to share with you. But, I did get this picture of him helping me fold towels...

I'm ashamed to admit I fell off the zone cleaning wagon... big time. This week has been much better so far, and I'm slowly getting back into the habit. I think I got overwhelmed and was trying to do too much all at the same time. When this happens, I tend to go into shut down mode.

Tomorrow... I need to do my menu planning and I'm hoping I can possibly get some cross stitching done (which I've really been missing).

If you have any healthy and affordable websites that you use for menu planning, please leave me a link in the comment section. I would love to check them out!
