Treat Others How You Wish to Be Treated

"So then, whatever you desire that others would do to and for you, even so do also to and for them." ~ Matthew 7:12

This Bible verse is often called The Golden Rule. The best way to sum it up is that we should treat others how we would like to be treated. It does not say to treat others how they have treated you. When we treat others poorly it can lead to pain, resentment, anger, separation of family, loss of peacefulness, and bitterness.

Do you get offended when someone doesn't hold the door open for you and it slams in your face? Does it hurt you when a family member judges your parenting? Does it bother you when people post mean comments on social media?

Have you treated others that way?

Even when people who are close to us... or not so close to us hurt us... we are to treat them with respect and kindness. We are to bless them, love them, treat them well and pray for them. I have failed many times with this one, but I'm still trying... still learning.

We will never be perfect. We will always make mistakes, but we should at least strive to do our best and be the best person that we can be.

So, how do we strive to be a better person? What small changes can we make in our lives to treat others better? Over the next few days I will be sharing ways that we can bless others with our faith filled actions in our everyday lives.
