Thinking too much?

We have a lot going on right now... taxes, an upcoming meeting, birthdays, applications for my son for college, a dinner my son is attending, school stuff for both of our children. Combine all of that with the daily stuff, plus throw in a few extras like trying to figure out how we can get our air conditioner fixed, bills and other things life can throw at us and we can all get overwhelmed. Right?

I think for most people they jot down the due dates on their calendar and go about their day. Well. I'm definitely not like that.

I have to think about things, and think about things, and think about things....

One of the things that Joyce Meyer says is, "Think about what your thinking about". That will tell you what is bothering you. She is so right!

Whenever I start feeling down, worried or feel my anxiety levels rising, I think about what I was just thinking about and then I understand why I'm feeling the way I am. But, I'm still working on how to stop those thoughts. How to put them away for the time being. How to not let them bother me. How to not be worried or let them cause anxiety. That's the hard part for me. I have a hard time not thinking. It can get to the point where my thoughts hold me captive.

My husband told me last night that he purchased Joyce Meyer's Battlefield of the Mind Bible for me and I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am! I know this will help me with my thinking... overthinking issues.

I also wrote a post about How to Get You Off Your Mind and doing the things I discussed does help me, but I need to do it more often. I do well for a while, as long as I'm keeping myself busy, but then I go right back into thinking too much.

Do you think too much? Are your thoughts holding you captive?

  2. This is a huge issue of mine. I overthink things or just "think" all the time. It creates a lot of anxiety!
