Our 20th Anniversary

I meant to post this several days ago, but life has been super busy. Keeping up with the house, meals, working a bit from home and getting my son set up for college has been taking up most of my time. We are still not done with getting him registered and all the steps that come along with that. Many. Many. Steps. Mama is stressing y'all.

But, I wanted to share a bit of the back story of our relationship and how we celebrated 20 years of marriage.

How We Met

Way back in 1995 (I feel so old) I started working nights at a warehouse pulling orders. I had been working there a month or so and one evening while on break a guy pulled up to bring his mom's truck to her at work. I thought this guy was so stinking cute! Little did I know he would be working a short time later... with me. I was grinning from ear to ear. I didn't think I had a chance, but I noticed him looking at me quite often. Eventually, he approached me and asked if I would like to go on a date with him and that was the beginning of 20+ years with the love of my life.

Our Wedding Day

On a Thursday night in 1997 my honey called and said, "Hey, you want to get married Monday?" Yes. Over the phone. We just had that kind of relationship. Plus, we had already been ring shopping and engaged for a couple of months. I, of course, said yes and that Friday we got our marriage license and was married the following Monday at the local courthouse. It was unconventional... yes, but perfect for us. My family didn't have money for a large wedding and I think my dad was still unsure of us getting married. So, we decided this was the best way for us at the time.

We were married on March 17th. On St. Patrick's Day. And... our last name is Green. Totally accidental. But, we love it!

And here we are after we smashed cake in each others faces and I accidentally got it up his nose. (I still feel bad about it. I'm sorry honey.)

20 Year Celebration

We had planned on going out to eat, but my husband decided to stop by the grocery story on his way home and surprise me with ingredients for a perfect meal, my absolute favorite flower and a beautiful card. He is such a sweetheart. We cooked dinner together and were able to enjoy the meal with our kids. We are those parents. The parents that feel bad when we go out to eat without our kids because we want them to enjoy that with us. We do go out to eat by ourselves, but we enjoy having the nicer meals with our children.

We had...

* Steak
* Lobster w/Drawn Butter
* Loaded Baked Potato
* Caesar Salad
* Shrimp w/Cocktail Sauce
* Chocolate Chip Cookie w/Icing for dessert

I'm so blessed to have this man in my life. He's my rock. He's funny, thoughtful, giving and works hard for us. I love him to the moon and back and he has always been there for me when I've needed him. He's my best friend and I wouldn't have it any other way.
