3 Things That I Try to Do Every Day to Keep Our Home Running Smoothly

3 Things I Try to Do Every Day to Keep Our Home Running Smoothly

It's tough to do it all. Am I right? I definitely have a hard time completing everything on my "to do" list.

As I sit here and type this, the dishwasher is going, there is a load of clothes in the washing machine, and I'm thinking about the pile of games that I need to relocate, the floor that needs to be swept, mopped and vacuumed, the kids bathroom that I need to clean and what I'm going to cook for dinner.

It's a constant struggle. I want to blog more, I want to cross stitch more. Yet, I have responsibilities to my family. If I don't take care of my responsibilities... things get out of control. Dishes will be overflowing and I will not want nor have room to cook, my son will be looking for his favorite pair of jeans that I didn't wash, my husband will be wondering why he has no socks to wear to work, or we will have to crumbs on our feet from walking through the kitchen because I didn't sweep the floor.

I don't get everything done that I need to during the day. I still haven't completed my weekly blessing for the week. I'm not perfect. I strive to be the best that I can be, but I don't strive for perfection. I would drive myself crazy.

Make the Bed. I'm sure you have seen me writing about this before. But, I feel it is so important. Believe me when I say... when I was first married... I never made the bed. Now, I have learned that it's really a pain when you are tired and wanting to get some rest, but you have to make the bed first.

Wash the Dishes. Have you ever went to the grocery store and came back to a dirty kitchen that you have to put away your new groceries in? Frustrating. Right? Does it make you feel like cooking when you see your dishes piled in the sink and on the counter? Sounds like a pizza night. Right?

Laundry. I try to do at least one load of laundry a day. It really helps to keep your laundry tower from growing. Many times... if I wash and dry one load of clothes, it makes me want to do another. I'm working on the put away part. I will take them out of the dryer and hang or fold them, but actually putting the laundry away.... I'm not so good at.

There are days when I don't get all three of these done, but it sure does help when I do. I've noticed that not only does this help our home run smoothly... it also helps my stress levels. I don't feel like so much is hanging over my head that I need to get done.

Do you have any tips to share on things that you do to keep your home running smoothly?
